- Who can enter?
The Games events are elite winter sports events sanctioned by the international governing bodies for each individual sport. The level of the each individual event dictates who may enter. In most cases athletes are required to be registered and have a license from both their national and international governing bodies in order to compete (i.e. FIS license, FWQ license, etc). Check out the entry info for each sport by clicking the tabs above.
- How do I enter and when?
The sanctioning for each event also dictates the process of entry and the timing for the opening of entries. Check out more detail on the sports tabs. Most of the snow events will open entries in May/June.
- Are there entry fees?
Yes, most sports have entry fees. Information on these will be published in the event Invitations which are available to download from the individual sports pages.
- Which athletes are competing?
We will post information about attending athletes on the sports pages as they enter. Some of this information will not be available until just before the first day of competition as the entry deadlines for each sport are controlled by the sanctioning body for that sport (i.e. FIS, IPC etc).
- Can I come and watch?
Yes! All the sports events in the Winter Games NZ are free to watch, with the exception of Ice Hockey which is ticketed. Click on the navigation tabs to the right to see which events are on where.
